Frank August Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

Frank August is the bourbon whose label peels off to leave a plain glass decanter — founded by Johnathan Crocker, a former fashion executive at AG Jeans, on the idea that sourced Kentucky bourbon deserves a bottle without a fake backstory. Small Batch is the entry: Kentucky straight bourbon from an undisclosed distillery, aged at least four years, blended in small batches, and bottled at 100 proof. Breaking Bourbon's 2026 review: green apple, cinnamon, toffee, and butterscotch on the nose; lemon, pear, sweet apple, caramel, and vanilla on the palate; and a finish of warming rye spice, white pepper, nutmeg, raisin, cinnamon, light malt, and seasoned oak — a smooth, approachable 100-proof pour in a sophisticated package. The Whiskey Shelf found the same orchard-fruit-and-caramel core. Expect a clean, fruit-forward, mid-rye Kentucky profile — no funk, no heat, no gimmicks — in the best-looking bottle on the shelf. Honest note: it's sourced, and Frank August says so; what you're paying for is a good blend and design that belongs on a bar cart. The Case Studies are where the brand gets interesting; this is the one for the gift and the Old Fashioned. Neat or on a cube. Frank August, small batch.
